Mars in 3D
From January 21st, visitors to the Laupheim Planetarium can experience the Red Planet in three dimensions.

Thanks to the high-resolution stereo cameras of the Mars rovers Spirit and Opportunity and the Mars Express probe, the bizarre desert landscapes, canyons and craters of the Red Planet can now be explored from the comfortable planetarium seat. The close-up images projected onto the dome of the Laupheim planetarium were provided by NASA and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). A new type of projection technology is used in the demonstration, which, together with special glasses, enables a spatial and at the same time colorful sensory impression. "After Copenhagen and at the same time as Paris, Laupheim is one of the first planetariums in Europe to be able to offer this impressive technology," the organizers are delighted. Highlights of their demonstration include Olympus Mons, the solar system's largest volcano, and the vast canyon system of the Valles Marineris.
Until June 6, 2007, the program can be seen on Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:00 p.m. and 8:15 p.m., on Saturdays at 8:15 p.m. and on Sundays at 2:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. You can find more dates on the planetarium's homepage. Ticket reservations can be made by calling 07392-91059.
